Cape Fear Economic Development Council Issues Position Statement on Development of US 421
Wilmington, NC, June 29, 2018 – Cape Fear Economic Development Council (CFEDC), the non-profit giving voice to innovative and sustainable economic development, has released a position statement about sustainable development along the US 421 industrial corridor.
On March 15, 2018 CFEDC hosted a public workshop to explore the future of the US 421 industrial corridor. Two factors prompted CFEDC to host this workshop: economic growth; and environmental and public health. The purpose of the workshop was for CFEDC to hear from local stakeholders about their priorities, and insights for balancing economic development with preservation and protection.
Attendees included interest groups, economic development professionals, former/current/aspiring elected officials, and interested citizens. Input received during the workshop, supplemented by independent research, was used to develop CFEDC’s position statement about industrial growth along the US 421 corridor. This statement is available on the CFEDC website – click to view the document.
