The Cape Fear Economic Development Council (CFEDC) presents a community conversation on “The Future of North Carolina Ports” featuring Jeffrey E. Miles, Acting Executive Director of the North Carolina State Ports Authority. The event will be held Tuesday, March 26 at WHQR-FM facilities at 254 N. Front Street, Wilmington. Doors open at 6:00PM for networking and refreshments; the program begins at 6:30PM. The public is invited. Jenny Callison, staff writer for the Greater Wilmington Business Journal will serve as moderator.
Mr. Miles was appointed Acting Executive Director on February 1, 2013. He is responsible for operations at the Ports of Morehead City and Wilmington, and inland terminals in Charlotte and the Piedmont Triad at Greensboro, with more than 230 employees across the state.
Jeffrey Miles has more than twenty years experience in the port and maritime transportation industry. He worked at the South Carolina State Ports Authority and in the private sector for major container shipping companies. Mr. Miles holds a bachelor’s degree from the College of Charleston and a Master of Business Administration from Duke University.
This community conversation is part of the CFEDC’s role in encouraging discussions about the regions strengths and challenges.
