Shar Oliver, Chief Sustainability Officer for BARD

Shar Olivier is an entrepreneur in the renewable energy and sustainable growth industry for the last decade. Currently Shar is Chief Sustainability Office for a large-scale bio-fuels company, BARD. BARD is a recognized leader of algae production for biofuels. For the last four years she has been CEO of Full Circle Industries, LLC a compostable tree-free dry goods distributor. FULL CIRCLE’s mission is to achieve sustainable mass production of dry goods by renewable sourcing -using post-industrial waste (non-petroleum and tree-free) and single waste stream practice.

Shar is a LEED-AP through the US Green Building Council and is currently involved in green development in central and southeastern North Carolina. She has recently volunteered as community liaison for Cape Fear River Watch, sits on the board of the Cape Fear Economic Development Council and is the volunteer greening director for Food For Life Global, the largest vegetarian food relief organization in the world.

Shar graduated from The New School for Social Research in NYC with a BA in Communications and Film, and is currently working on two documentary films. Shar is also a cohort in the Duke Environmental Leadership Program for the Master’s of Environmental Management. She co-created Planit Greener, a traveling green building/eco-living exhibit, reaching thousands of mainstream consumers. She lives with her partner, between the river and the ocean, in Wilmington, NC.
